Morris
Kainuma, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, works as a
freelance musician in New York City. In varying
capacities, he has performed with the
Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, New York
Pops, New York Philharmonic, American Symphony,
Brooklyn Philharmonic, New York Chamber Symphony,
and Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. He
has also performed with the Philadelphia
Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber
Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, and Honolulu
Symphony. Morris was also principal tuba of the
Aspen Music Festival Orchestra from
1982-1996.
As
a chamber musician, Morris has been a member of
The New York Brass, the Eastern Brass
Quintet, Rekkenze Brass (Germany), and
the Honolulu Brass. He also brings to the
Central Park Brass the experience of performances
with The Canadian Brass and the American
Brass Quintet. Morris is active on Broadway and
is a member of the orchestra for the current
Broadway revival, "Gypsy".
